About our Advisory Council:

EPP Canada recently formed an Advisory Council to help guide the implementation of EPP Canada’s strategic plan, particularly in our startup phase.  Our Advisory Council currently comprises 2 members who have it on their hearts to help with our mission:  Heather Hay (Chair) and Peter McGaugh. If you have a heart for our mission and would like to become a member of our Advisory Council, we’d love to hear from you!

Heather Hay
Advisory Council Chair

Heather Hay, RN, M.A., MSC(A) is a healthcare executive with senior leadership experience across the Canadian healthcare system, most notably in innovative program planning, evaluation and development. With a passion for working with marginalized client populations and adapting systems to meet their needs, Heather led the development of ground-breaking harm reduction programs including North America’s first Supervised Injection Site, Canada’s only Community Court, and British Columbia’s first Drug Treatment Court. As part of the Olympic legacy projects, she developed a strategy to support complex homeless mental health and addiction clients and implemented a forward-thinking 100-bed integrated treatment centre for adults with severe and complex concurrent disorders, and an 80-bed long-term residential addictions treatment centre for youth.

Heather is a recipient of the National Deloitte Public Sector Leadership Award and was twice awarded BC Premier’s Public Service Award for Innovation and Collaboration. She has been recognized by the BC Business Association and is a recipient of its Innovator of the Year Award. Identifying as a type 8, Heather's drive and passion to push the boundaries and protect those who are vulnerable has been an ongoing theme throughout her career.  After completing EPP’s public programming in 2021, Heather recognized how EPP’s self-awareness programming could be transformative for people on both sides of the bars, in particular for people who have faced trauma in their lives.  She stepped forward to Chair EPP Canada’s Advisory Council which will provide advice and guidance to help EPP Canada achieve its mission.

Peter McGaugh, mentor and coach, has almost twenty years of experience engaging people and teams all over the world in the art of authentic leadership and in utilizing the Enneagram in the workplace. Peter’s training in the field of Integral Development and his extensive research and expertise in human growth and generative leadership are foundational to his work. Prior to launching his consulting and teaching business, Peter was a Senior Executive with a global corporation for more than twenty years, observing and experiencing on a daily basis the need for self-awareness, courageous willingness and focused, deliberate practice to grow and transform as a leader.

This, combined with his caring and interpersonal Type 2 tendencies led him to become one of the founding members and board directors of EPP Canada. Peter had a key role in building EPP Canada’s foundation and strategic intent. In 2022, Peter moved into an advisory role where he continues to support the growth and development of EPP Canada as a member of EPP Canada’s Advisory Council.
